Looking back at the Bike to Work Challenge 2024
This year’s Bike to Work Challenge came to a close at the end of June, after two intense months of inspiring team spirit and commitment. We are proud to look back at the impressive results achieved by the staff of the University of Bern.
More than 530 employees participated in this year’s Bike to Work Challenge and pedaled a jaw-dropping total of 141,109 kilometers. This feat was achieved by 143 teams who cycled a highly impressive 76% of their journey to work, which amounted to a total of 13,952 bike days. They also saved 20,320 kilograms of CO2 emissions! These numbers are a testament not just to the participants’ athletic fitness, but also to the level of environmental awareness at our university. In recognition of the exemplary commitment and motivation of the participants, the University of Bern, as the organizing body, decided to draw a winning team internally.
The lucky winner of this year’s Bike to Work Challenge is the IBMM1 team from the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine. Our heartfelt congratulations to Daniel Harder, Noor Ayoub, Julian Imhof und Jean-Marc Jeckelmann on winning! We are delighted to present them with a Uni Webshop voucher in the value of CHF 400.
A big thank you to all participants in this year’s Bike to Work Challenge. Your dedication and enthusiasm demonstrated that, together, we can achieve great things – both for our health and for the environment.
We are already looking forward to the next Bike to Work Challenge, no doubt with an equally impressive turnout!
